What is Pack
2008?
Pack 2008 is an officially chartered Cub Scout Pack
located in Plano, Texas. We are chartered through the McDermott Road
Church of Christ. Many of our boys attend Wyatt Elementary; however, we
have boys that attend other schools as well. Our Pack accepts boys who
are interested in joining Cub Scouts at any time during the school year,
though we hold official membership drives in the spring (May) and late
summer (August-September) every year. You can find out more about our

We encourage you to look around the website and see what activities our
Pack does each year. Our boys are very active and have a great deal of
fun.Why Join Cub Scouts?
As parents we have ever-decreasing "years of influence" on our children.
The picture below tells the story. By the time our kids are teenagers
they will have developed the habits they will carry into adulthood. From
birth until now, you have spent as much time as you can with your
children and tried to teach them the qualities you wish them to have as adults. How may years of
influence do you have left? Two? Thee? If you are lucky you have a few
more than that. Why not make Cub Scouting the path that will bond your
family together during those remaining "years of influence"?
How much are the annual dues?
Excellent question! Our annual Pack dues are $75 for the scouting year
which runs from June to May. Pack 2008 makes no profit off of membership
dues. Of the $75 fee, $20 is for registration with the National Scout
Office, $43 is to offset the cost of awards and other pack activities,
and $12 is to pay for an annual subscription to Boys Life magazine. If
you join in the spring we offer a $15 "Try Us For the Summer" price,
where if you decide to join in full after the summer you merely pay $60
($75-$15=$60). If you join in the fall you would pay the full $75 then.
If you join after the fall drive your dues may be pro-rated.
How is the $43 that stays with the Pack spent?
If you looked through our website you will see that the Pack engages in
many, many activities over the scouting year: camping, rocket launches,
pinewood derby, Scouting for Food, bike rodeos, etc. The $43 fee that
stays with the pack will be used to pay for:
- Cub Scout rank advancement…includes Tigercub
pocket totems and beads
- Webelos activity pins, and patches, patches,
patches!
- Wolf and Bear arrow points
- Sport and Academic belt loops and activity pins
with Cub Scout letter
- Attendance pins
- Special den, den leader, and parent recognition
(normally ribbons)
- Special program involvement including Summer time
and Pinewood Derby awards
- Pinewood Derby Car Kits
